Fitness for the busy mom will always be challenging. The following is a
short list of some common deterrents that tend to interfere with a mom’s
intention to be fit.
Guilt
Lack of time
Lack of money
Lack of commitment or self discipline
Lack knowledge of what to do
Lack equipment
Find below a short discussion of how these familiar deterrents can be
overcome.
We may harbor guilt because fitness can take us away from what we need
to do and who we want to be with. Approach your fitness as we are
encouraged in the event of an emergency on an airplane to place our face
mask on first, then attend to your child or loved ones. Your fitness and
accompanying happiness will exude sense of health and happiness to your
loved ones as well.
Is our lack of time and money truthful or just perceived? Re-evaluate if
whether the lack of time & money truly exists or whether it is more an
issue of convenience.
Commitment &/or self discipline are best dealt with initially by placing
your intention onto your schedule. If you don’t schedule, begin doing
so. Keep it simple. Include fitness with the simple necessities such as
sleep, personal hygiene, and eating. Avoid making it ominous. Pair up
your intentions with some like minded friends; as humans we like to
please others. Use this trait to your advantage.
Many people make it to the gym, pool and/or the tennis court only to
find out they are lacking the basic knowledge to make that visit
effective. Today, there are a myriad of sources that can be used to
provide the pertinent information needed. If the person is challenged
by one or more of the above deterrents, seeking out a solution that
includes some human interaction and guidance may be preferred.
If having the proper equipment or the place to store it influence your
choice to work out or put it off, seek out programming that exists
through small personal training facilities and gyms.
At Well Being, we offer several Fit Mom 6 week training programs
throughout the year. We try to target one per quarter generally. For
